 सर्दी का समय था और धुँध भी थी। बस का इंतजार कर रहा था। बस देर से आई। बस में सवार हुआ तो दो वाली सीट पर एक व्यक्ति बैठा था मैं उसी के साथ बैठ गया। आप जानते हैं कि बात बढाने के लिए आज सर्दी ज्यादा है या गर्मी ज्यादा है से शुरुआत अकसर होती हैं। हमारी सर्दी से शुरुआत हुई। और आगे से आगे बिंदुओं का जुड़ने का क्रम चल निकला। दो अड्डो के बाद बस फिर रूकी एक महिला सवार हुई और मेरी सहयात्री ने देखा और उस महिला यात्री ने भी उस ओर देखा। लगा की ये दोनों आपस में जानते -पहचानते है। ऐसा मुझे लगा  लेकिन दोनों तरफ से कोई अभिवादन नहीं वह महिला यात्री आगे की एक खाली हुई सीट पर बैठ गई। मैंने महसूस किया की नजरों का मिलन तो गहरा था पर शब्दों की कोई भूमिका नहीं थी। बस फिर चल पड़ी। हम बातों को वहीं से शुरुआत की जहाँ से छोड़ा था। मेरे सहयात्री ने धीरे से बताया कि आगे बैठी महिला से मेरा रिश्ता था जो अब नहीं है। मुझे सदमा सा लगा। उसने बताया कि हमारा रिश्ता लगभग सात साल चला बच्चे भी हुए जो आज मेरे साथ है। बीन बताए चली गई फिर वापस नहीं आई। तलाक भी हुआ पर आज तक मूल कारण पता नहीं चला। और अब जानना भी नहीं चाहता। ...
